Opening Times

The school day begins at 8:50am and finishes at 3:15pm. It is vital for children to attend school regularly and on time. Registers are taken between 8:50 am and 9:00 am, therefore children who arrive after this time must report to the main office.

At the start of the school day, supervision is provided in the children's classrooms from 8.40 am.

All infant classes have doors into their classrooms to enable parents to drop off at the classroom door between 8.40 and 8.50. This is also a nice opportunity to have a brief chat with the class teacher. If it requires longer than a minute or two, please arrange a separate appointment.

Junior children make their own way to their rooms via the junior playground. There is a teacher on duty at the door.

It is important for parents/guardians to be punctual when picking up their children. Pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 are to be collected from the Junior playground at 3:15pm. Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are picked up from their classroom door. The school is a secure site during the day and the only access to school is through the main entrance.

Key Stage One

In Key Stage One there are three classes; Reception, Year One and Year Two. Reception sets the foundation for children and introduces them to school life. They use continuous provision so that the staff can observe the children and evaluate their progress through the Foundation Stage Profile. In Year One, continuous provision is continued. Throughout Year Two, the children are preparing for life in the Juniors and the classroom adopts a more formal setting.

Key Stage Two

There are four classes in KS2: Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. In Year Three, children build upon their experiences from the Infants and gain a sense of pride from being in the Juniors. Each year after this, children's experiences are built upon in order to prepare them for SAT's in Year Six and life after Rishton Methodist Primary School.

Typical Daily Timetable

Below is a standard timetable for the school week. Each class follows the format below, but alterations are made to best fit the children in each year group.
